FUTURE PLAY // How do we play and how will we play in the future?
Emily Carr University’s Future Lab received NSERC funding to partner with a local outdoor equipment supplier to conduct design research about how and where we currently play, and how and where we might play in the future. The intent of the research was to uncover future directions for the outdoor equipment supplier.
As part of Future Lab’s Environments of Play Research project, my role was to design and lead the research activities that would engage elementary school children. I designed a two-part research activity. The first part was a photo journal activity used to capture how and where children currently play. The second part, was a model building activity that encouraged children to imagine how they might play in the future.
